Understanding The Power of Grapes, The Human Diet, and Detoxification

During my 90 Day Juice Feast, about 85% of the juice I drank was 100% raw organic pure grape juice with lemon & lime squeezed into it. I wanted to dedicate this blog post to sharing the power of grapes and how well they can assist the body in detoxification.
Here are just some of the benefits of grapes:
Grapes improve vision Black grapes contain carotenoids such as Lutein and Zeaxanthin which are known to assist in maintaining good eyesight.
Grapes protect the heart A study done by the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center suggests that the intake of black grapes may protect people from metabolic syndrome-related organ damage.
Grapes prevent (and destroy) cancer & move your lymphatic system The compound resveratrol is abundant in grapes. It contains high amounts of antioxidants and certain elements that are capable of destroying the energy source of cancer cells.
Grapes boost your immune system Grapes are rich in different vitamins- black grapes specifically are rich in vitamin C, K, and A along with flavonoids and minerals. These vitamins and minerals are known to boost immunity.
Grapes promote healthy skin The antioxidants present in grapes such as proanthocyanidins and resveratrol provide protection against harmful UV rays.
The benefits go on and on.
One of the most famous cases of healing with grapes comes from Johanna Brandt who later published a book in 1927 titled “The Grape Cure” where she details how she reversed her stage 4 cancer in about 40 days of consuming grapes. Of course, many criticized her (as anyone who speaks about healing in natural ways is criticized). Yet time and time again people heal themselves with this powerful food.
You see, humans are biologically FRUGIVORES. We are not Carnivores, Omnivores, or Herbivores. We share 98%+ of our DNA with the primates who eat predominantly fruit. Our digestive systems are basically identical. Our bodies run on sugar- FRUIT sugar. Not all sugar is created equal, despite what we have been taught. Humans are the ONLY species on Earth (besides the animals that we’ve domesticated) who eat SO drastically away from our biological food. We are also the only species with the amount of manifestations of mental illness and diseases that we have. Can you imagine if lions (natural Carnivores) were fed 80% fruit and only 20% meat? How sick would they become? If you just think about it logically, all animals in nature eat raw. Do you have the natural instinct to run up to a pig or cow and bite straight into it's flesh? Does that sound appetizing to you? Do you have the fangs and teeth to do so? No, and no. As a matter of fact, most humans would have the natural instinct to protect a vulnerable animal. We have the compassion that true carnivores and omnivores lack. This is why when humans (such as myself) go on a diet thats 100% raw/ living and high in fruit, they first experience deep detoxification symptoms. But then, after some time they begin to thrive. All health issues vanish. Mental clarity is abundant. Your mood becomes uplifted. Why? Because you’re living in alignment with your body and with nature. Your body can now function the way it was designed to.
This information can seem so surreal to some because it is almost too simple to believe. We have been brought up to believe that diseases are complicated and impossible to reverse. That we need to depend on the FDA, hospitals, insurance, chemo, harmful chemicals & medications, and the government. That we need to raise millions of dollars to "find a cure" for cancer and diseases like AIDS. These are all establishments that make literally billions of dollars on humans being sick. This is why I say that transitioning to a raw living foods diet is more of a process of UNLEARNING than learning. It really is an awakening. It's too uncomfortable for most and many aren't able to handle "escaping the matrix" so to speak. But in the words of John Rose, "Only those who go where few have gone can see what few have seen".
Detoxification has more to do with moving out of the body’s way than what you put into your body. It’s not really about nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Those things have more to do with rebuilding. But as far as detoxing, its about providing your body with the environment to let go. This is why on a Juice Feast, people (especially those with no previous detox experience) end up experiencing extreme detox symptoms. Grapes are so clean and easily absorbed by the human body that on a grape juice fast, your body goes into overdrive cleaning up years and years of stored toxins & lymph. Grapes have essentially NO obstruction for your body. Nothing but pure energy. They contain everything you need and none of what you don't. Your detoxification symptoms WILL increase on a grape juice fast more so than on any other juices. At least that’s my experience.
One step up from grape juice fasting would be water fasting. Most people cannot handle that level of fasting. On a liquid diet, your body is finally given the environment and energy to dump stored toxins into your eliminative organs to be released and it’s usually at a speed way too fast for most people to handle. You end up feeling all the stagnant lymph trying to release at once and this leads to a plethora of symptoms such as nausea, headaches, extreme sore throats, muscle aches, lightheadedness, rashes, and more.
But these symptoms are a GOOD thing. It's a great feeling getting past a detox symptom and knowing that you're that much cleaner than you were before. You've peeled one layer of obstruction from your body. Let grapes be your friend and let your food be your medicine!
Here's a quick bonus/ tip: One of the best ways to start improving your health is to eat fruit for breakfast. This is a great place to start. Eating fruit (preferably one type of fruit at a time) first thing in the morning slowly wakes up your digestive track and very gently helps to detoxify your body. A big bowl of your favorite grapes in the morning is a great place to start! Better yet, make grape juice or a grape smoothie by blending & straining your grapes. Squeeze a whole lemon into your juice. This way you’re consuming literal CELL food. Your body will love you.
